New Products From Eagle Creek!
Do you like to take your music and laptop with you when you travel or cruise around town?  Eagle Creek has two new bags that combine all the usual great features plus a plug in and play speaker system and a computer sleeve.  The Matrix Symphonium is a shoulder bag with a 1,700-cubic-inch capacity, and the Harmonium is a backpack with a capacity of 2,300 cubic inches.

The integrated sound system easily connects to any CD player, MP3, or laptop computer.  Speakers live in their own custom-designed, sound-permeable pockets that can zip open to enhance volume, and they can be removed for tabletop set up.  Padded compartments protect speakers from impact.  There are strategically placed input and output portals so you can store the cords inside a Velcro sleeve.  There’s also a padded front flap that enables access to a pocket where you can store your CDs.

The computer sleeve is a raised, padded compartment that prevents the laptop from direct ground contact and jarring, while a thick, bottom padding enhances protection.  A top buckle closure secures the computer during transport.

Two new bags designed specifically as wheeled computer bags are also available, the Matrix Rollium, a 2,000-cubic-inch courier/shoulder bag, and the Wheelium, a 2,200-cubic-inch backpack.  Both have a mini telescoping four-stage handle and wheels.  The new lightweight technology makes it easy to either carry or wheel these bags.  The padded computer sleeve is standard in these models, as are padded zip pockets.

Portable Surround Sound System – Available separately is the Sonic Gen II speaker set in a custom-designed case.  The speakers easily plug in to your computer or CD player while in their case.  It’s ideal for laptops or school presentations.

Travel Tip: Ask For A Discount
If you shop at touristy places, bear in mind that tour guides/operators who take their visitors to these types of shops all get a commission on purchases by the clients that they bring to the venue.  This generally represents 10% of of the purchase price.  Effectively, this means that all these venues add the extra 10% to their selling price.  There is no harm in you, as a tourist in a foreign land, asking for this as a discount for yourself if you travel on your own, or even asking your tour guide to arrange his commission to be turned into a discount for you.
Ask the Experts
I want to keep a record of my trip, but I’m a terrible journal writer.  Do you have any suggestions?

If you're not likely to keep a journal or quickly forget the details of the trip once you get home, buy a bunch of cheap postcards and stamps and whenever you have a few minutes, write a postcard to yourself or others detailing a recent moment - not an overall 'having a wonderful time, wish you were here,' but 'Just got back from climbing the tower in Notre Dame and found out my sister has claustrophobia!  Climbing that narrow spiral stone staircase was almost too much for her - she clung to the rail all the way up!'  Those moments are often lost, but you can save them if you get them down almost as quickly as they happen.  Writing postcards is also a good excuse to sit in a café with a refreshing drink and watch the world go by.

E-mail your travel questions to travelquestions@cil.com and we’ll try to answer them in our subsequent newsletters.
