Travel Safety For Your Personal Information

There has been a lot of talk about identity theft in the news lately.  Protecting your privacy and your personal data is one of the keys to preventing identity theft.  While you should not spend your vacation worrying about it, we have a few travel safety tips for your personal information.

•• When entering data on your luggage tags on your outward bound journey, consider using the address and phone number of the hotel or place you will be staying.  On the return trip, consider using your work address and telephone number.  If your bags are lost, your airline will have the information needed to contact you and ship the bags, while protecting your home information.
•• Before leaving for the airport, go through your wallet or purse and take out all of the documents with personal information that will not be required on your trip.  If your wallet or purse is lost or stolen while traveling, not only will you have less to replace, but less of your personal information will be compromised.  Consider a second wallet or purse that you store with your luggage between trips that has just what you need for your travels.
•• Take advantage of hotel safes, whether in your room or at the front desk.  Don’t leave documents accessible in your room that have personal information or, if stolen, would interrupt your trip.

Just For Fun

With a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary at a church's marriage seminar, the minister asked Ralph to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he managed to live with the same woman all these years.
The husband replied to the audience, "Well, I treated her with respect, spent money on her, but mostly I took her traveling on special occasions."
The minister inquired, "Trips to where?"
"For our 25th anniversary, I took her to Beijing, China."
The minister then said, "What a terrific example you are to all husbands, Ralph.  Please tell the audience what you're going to do for your wife on your 50th anniversary?"
Ralph replied, "I'm going to go get her."
