New From Eagle Creek!
Travel is getting more enjoyable every day.  Eagle Creek has just introduced new travel pillows to make all of your trips more comfortable.  Comfort Lumbar Pillow – Whether sitting in a car for a long time or at a desk, the lumbar pillow is comfortable and portable.  A new valve system provides easy inflation and comfort adjustment with the touch of a button.   Comfort Seat Cushion – This cushion will come in handy if you’re sitting for a long time anywhere, including a stadium bench.   Comfort Head Rest – The head rest can be used any place a pillow is needed, from the trail to the hostel to the car, and it folds into itself for easy packing.  Watch for the new Comfort Neck Pillow colors, cherry red and navy blue.  Also new is the Packable Pouch, large enough to hold guidebooks and other essentials, yet small enough to stuff into your luggage on the way to your destination.  It folds inside a separate sack for packing.

Lonely Planet Food Guides
Lonely Planet has recently introduced a series of world food guides that cover everything you wanted to know about eating and drinking in major world destinations but were afraid to ask.  Full of gorgeous, evocative color photos, each book is packed with details on regional cuisine, guides to local markets and produce, recipes, useful phrases for shopping and dining, and a comprehensive culinary dictionary.  Some of the countries included in the series are France, Spain, Vietnam, Thailand, Greece, and Italy.  Call to see which Lonely Planet World Food guides we have in the store.

There’s also a series of Out to Eat guides that recommends the brightest and best places to eat and drink in top international cities.  With reviews arranged by neighborhood and cross-referenced to easy-to-use maps, the books are spiced up with food features and 'best' lists.

Travel Tips
It’s such a hassle when your luggage takes a different trip than you do and has to catch up with you later.  Not only are you without your luggage for several days; but what if it never makes it back to you and you have to file a claim to be reimbursed for everything in it?  Would you be able to remember everything you packed?  Next time, make a list of everything you put in your bag.  Keep a copy with you and leave one at home.  If you do end up having to file a claim with the airline or your travel insurance company, you can provide the list without having to remember what you had packed.
Ask the Experts
What’s the best way to protect film from damage from airport x-ray machines?

With the tightened airport security measures being put in place, it’s becoming more difficult for travelers to protect their film.  In the past, it was possible to have your film hand-checked, but now that’s rarely an option.  Generally, film will not be affected by passing through the carry-on baggage x-ray machine unless it is faster than 800 ASA or takes more than 5 passes through the machines.  Currently, checked bags in the U.S. are randomly screened for explosives using Computed Tomography technology, which is the same technology used in medical CAT scans.  These are 300 times more powerful than conventional x-ray machines and cause catastrophic damage to film.  Under no circumstances should you place film or disposable cameras in checked luggage, according to James Blamphin, a spokesman for Eastman Kodak.  Until Sept. 11, only about 10 percent of checked bags underwent explosive-detection screening (EDS).  New congressional mandates mean that by 2003, all checked bags will go through EDS screening.  Lead-lined bags will not protect film passing through EDS systems.  Several options exist for the concerned traveler.  1) Put your film in a lead-lined bag and place it in your carry-on.  This will protect your film and give you peace of mind.  2) Have your film developed before returning home.  3) Overnight it home like some professional photographers.
