Traveling With Your VISA Card

Before jetsetting off on your adventure, you should always notify your banks and/or credit card companies to help prevent situations where your VISA card may be deactivated.  Otherwise, when your card is used in a foreign country, the card company may try to contact you or may deactivate the card to avoid potentially fraudulent charges.

It's also a good idea to check with your issuing bank about any fees that may be associated with using your card abroad.

While it is recommended to have a copy of your credit card numbers while you travel, there is always a chance that you may misplace that paper copy as well.  At Changes in Latitude Travel Store, we recommend that you write down the credit card number using a sort of code, so the credit card numbers are not obvious to anyone who might find the misplaced copy.

For example: if your card number is 4888 2456 7890 1212, you might insert the beginning of your phone number into each set of numbers.  The result might look like this 34888 02456 37890 71212.  This way if the copy is found, your "coded" card number wouldn't be usable.  Now the copy of the card number will only be discernable by you.

VISA also provides some travel protection to help you in sticky situations:
            • Auto rental collision damage waiver
            • Emergency card replacement and cash disbursement
            • The Visa signature cards provide a few additional benefits such as: 24/7 concierge service,
lost luggage reimbursement, roadside dispatch and travel accident insurance.

For more information on travel protection, check out VISA's official website: Travel With VISA

Just For Laughs

Did you know??  In all, it has been calculated that airlines will mishandle 7.34 bags out of every one thousand bags that they handle.   (Source: unclaimedluggage.net)   Here is our response to that information:

Prayer of the Lost Luggage (Source: Wicked Spanish)

"O mighty Zapoletoletecaxacoatlototoc, God of Flight and Lost Luggage,
please return to me my handsome Eagle Creek bag that went to Guadalajara or Guadalupe.
I dare not make a pilgrimage to your Holy Rockpile without
the brand-new, matching outfit from Changes in Latitude, contained in said Eagle Creek bag.
And if you can spare a moment from your busy schedule, O Winged Reptilian Unhappiness,
please firmly smite all cruel and inept baggage handlers.
