February 9th- Enjoy the Beauty of Norway

Come join Kay and Rob as they explore this country of unparalleled beauty.  From the picture-postcard Art-Nouveau city of Ålesund, to the out-of-the-world Lofoten Islands north of the Arctic Circle, where the scenery redefines the term jaw-dropping, Norway has it all! In the Lofoten Islands we stay in a “Rorbu" cabin literally over the water, with dramatic mountain views all around, and crystal clear water below.  The Lofoten Islands are a dream come true for photographers, backpackers, and bicyclists.  Next we visit the classic fjords of Norway, crisscrossing them on ferries and exploring small villages and stave churches on their steep banks.  We take a hike on a glacier, drive through the longest tunnel in the world (15 miles), and explore some of the alpine areas which are so different from Colorado. Last we visit Bergen, steeped in German heritage from the cod-trading days, where thankfully the smell of fresh coffee has replaced that of dried cod.  Kay and Bob will also share travel tips on how to get around this large country, where the sites seem to be spread out to all 4 corners - but with clever planning, you can see a lot of them in a short time.

February 16th-Discover Sublime Hiking and Legendary Hospitality in the Mountains of Poetry: The Republic of Georgia

Come discover a little-known corner of far-eastern Europe on this unusual adventure in the Republic of Georgia. This peaceful, democratic country is a fabulous find for adventurous travelers seeking a novel yet safe experience in a locale that's equally impressive in scenery and culture. Diverse Georgia offers multifaceted travel opportunities, from alpine trekking and ancient monasteries to wine tasting in Kakheti and trendy cafe culture in the capital of Tbilisi. The centerpiece of this presentation is a trek through the Caucasus Mountains that crown this small country, rising higher than the Alps in a serrated line between the Black and Caspian seas. Along this historic geographic divide between Europe and Asia we find remarkable biodiversity, some of the world's oldest vineyards, and an ancient culture steeped in tradition. Georgia's people are as captivating as its peaks, welcoming visitors with poetry, song and legendary hospitality.

February 23rd-Safari in Kenya and Tanzania

Safari has to be one of the most evocative words ever to infiltrate the English language. Watching wildlife is at the top of almost everyone’s must do list in both Kenya and Tanzania. Tanzania’s showpiece attractions are: the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania also offers a stellar array of protected areas featuring some of the most diverse and rewarding wildlife viewing to be found anywhere. In Kiswahili, safari quite literally means “journey”, though to eager visitors flocking to the Kenya national parks, it means so much more. From inspiring visions of wildebeests fording raging rivers and lions stalking their prey through the savannah grass, to iridescent flamingos lining a salty shore at sunset, a safari into the wild is untamed Africa at its finest.  Join us on this exciting slide show adventure through Kenya and Tanzania!

 March 1st- Packing Light Clinic

Do you have a fun trip coming up? Have you never quite tackled the task of effective packing?   Join us in this fun and informational clinic on how to consolidate your trip essentials. Learning how to pack light helps to reduce unnecessary stress and really can make your trip more enjoyable!  We’ll teach you about packable fabrics, different packing methods, and travel accessories that make all the difference.  Whether you’ll be traveling for a week or several months, you can learn how to pack everything you need in one convenient and organized suitcase.

PACKING TIP OF THE MONTH

Take a TSA approved lock to secure your suitcase. TSA officials will be able to open the lock, if they need to, and officials of all other countries will require you to be present to open the lock.  Add a cable so that you can lock your belongings to a secure spot in your lodgings, on a train, or in storage whenever you leave your suitcase unattended.
