March 8th - Hiking and Rafting in the Grand Canyon
Go on a Grand Canyon trip without getting wet. Charly Heavenrich has rowed on 118 trips in 38 years, and knows the Canyon very well. Through stories and a compelling DVD slide show, he will take you through the Grand and into the diverse side canyons, answering your questions while preparing you for your own trip, either vicariously or sometime in the future. His stories are inspiring, and his passion for sharing the Canyon Experience is real and heart felt.
March 15 - California's Lost Coast Trail
The Lost Coast Trail follows the longest stretch of wilderness coastline in the lower 48 states. This rugged 52-mile journey features black sand beaches, soaring cliffs, and temperate old growth redwood and fir forests. Morning fog, harbor seals, black bears, and remnants of the area's native American ranching and logging history characterize this challenging hike and give a sense of how wild the west coast of the United States once was. Parts of the hike are accessible to day hikers and the area's state parks and national forests provide many places to explore.
March 22nd - Explore Madagascar
What many of us know about Madagascar comes from the Madagascar I, II, or III movies. Ironically, seeing the lemurs in real life, it’s easy to understand why the lemurs are so endearing. Andy and Sandy Edmondson spent three weeks in Madagascar traveling throughout the island. The presentation will cover their journey as they visit the National Parks and see very diverse landscapes from the rainforests on the East to the Baobab trees and desert in the South West. Ninety percent of the flora and fauna of Madagascar is found nowhere else on earth. Lemurs are present throughout the island and they saw nineteen of the over 100 species on the island.
March 29th - Papua New Guinea

Packing Tip of the Month
Does your passport need renewal? If your U.S. passport has expired, or if it expires any time in 2016, the State Department recommends that you renew it as soon as possible. There are three reasons for this:
1. The State Department is expecting a flood of 10-year passport renewals this year because it is the 10-year anniversary of the beginning of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. This initiative requires that U.S. air travelers have passports for travel to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. The new passports people acquired in 2006 are now expiring and the State Department expects a wave of renewals.
2. Many countries are increasingly requiring up to 6 months validity on your passport, beyond your travel dates, in order to allow you entry into their countries. You don’t want to be caught short and not be able to enter your destination of choice!
3. The State Department is no longer making it possible to add extra visa pages to your passport. If your passport is full, you may actually need a new passport, even if it is not ready to expire.
For more information, please see the State Department Travel Website: http://travel.state.gov/.
